Review Policy
UPDATED 1/1/21
Hello, and thank you for your interest in my reviews! Please read the following carefully before sending me a review request. Thank you!
I am currently accepting Young Adult and Adult books for review. I will also occasionally accept Middle Grade books for review. I also accept children’s books (picture books, early reader books, early chapter books, chapter books, and middle grade books) for my sons to review as a part of my Kiddo’s Corner Reviews feature (go here for more about Kiddo’s Corner Reviews).
I accept ARCs and finished copies. I will accept eBooks that are compatible with the Kindle app. I will accept audiobooks as well. I am currently accepting books from major and indie publishers, as well as select self-published books. I am NOT accepting works in progress at this time.*
You can contact me at theoverstuffedbookcase [at] gmail [dot] com. I will only respond to requests for books that I have decided to accept for review.
*NOTE: If you are a friend of mine (or somehow connected to me in person), I will gladly be a beta reader for your book if I have the time. However, I can not in good conscience review a book by a friend or acquaintance. I feel like it could get awkward or make me feel like I couldn’t be honest in my review and I pride myself on my honest reviews.
If I accept a book for review, I will try my hardest to review the book, but a review is not always guaranteed. Books received for review will have high priority, but I read a lot and other books may end up having a higher priority. It helps to receive books at least 2-3 months before you would like the review posted, that way I can have plenty of time to read it and write a thoughtful review.
I will try to promote any book received for review through a Stacking the Shelves (StS) post and/or Instagram photo (@OverstuffedBook) within a couple of weeks of receiving the book. I also try to post all of my reviews on Goodreads, as well as promote my reviews and other posts through Twitter (@OverstuffedBook), and my Facebook page.
I will try to write a review for almost every book I finish. However, if I do not finish a book, I might not write a detailed review, but I will most likely post about why I did not finish the book.
My reviews are honest, relaxed, and humorous, but never at the author’s expense. My reviews are kind and even if I did not like a book I will try to write something positive about it.
All of my reviews (whether it is a rated review or one I did not finish [DNF]) will include the following:
- Book info: Title, author, series status, publisher, publication year, page count, format/source, age group/genre
- Cover art
- Summary (From Goodreads, Amazon, or the book itself)
- My review
- A starred rating or DNF (Did Not Finish)
- Where to find the book (Goodreads, Amazon, the publisher’s website)
- A disclaimer stating that I was not compensated for my review
I will also sometimes list similar books if I know of any. And if I did not particularly like the book, I will try to add links to other reviewers who enjoyed the book more than I did.

I do not often host author interviews or other blog tour posts. I will feature these types of posts on my blog occasionally, but will decide to do so on a case-by-case basis. If you would like me to be a part of a blog tour or host other promotional posts, you can contact me at theoverstuffedbookcase [at] gmail [dot] com. I would prefer to have already read the book you are promoting, or receive a copy of that book for review, or to have at least previously read something by the author. I like to know a little bit about the author and/or book before I promote it on my blog. In the case of debut authors, I will consider promoting the author and his or her book on a case-by-case basis.
You can contact me at theoverstuffedbookcase [at] gmail [dot] com if you would like me to write a guest post for your blog.
Thank you again for your interest in my reviews!
