Top Ten Tuesday: Where Are They Now?
Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. Each week there is a new topic. I’m a huge fan of lists, so this meme is right up my alley!
This week’s topic is Ten Childhood Characters You’d Love To Revisit As Adults. And I’ve kind of made this list into a hybrid of characters I read when I was younger that I’d like to see grown up and also YA characters that I’ve read much more recently that I’d also like to see what happens to them when they are adults. So here is my list, in alphabetical order by the author’s last name:
I could totally see this in movie form (although I’d love a book, too): a Sex in the City kind of vibe to it, where you’ve got a few of them who are professionals and a few who are stay at home moms, etc. I found this awesome article and really, we need this book (or just a movie!) to happen, you guys. (Not necessarily the way the author of that article has it, but I would love to see the BSC as adults!)
This is a book I read back in sixth grade, and I LOVED it. I still love it, even though when reading it as an adult, it doesn’t quite hold up. But I think it was one of the books that made me love apocalyptic stories, because it’s about a virus that kills everyone over 13 and all these kids have to fend for themselves. So yeah, I’d love to see an update on them. Did everything work out? Do they have the world kind of back to how it used to be, now that they’re adults?
I know, I know, Sweet Valley Confidential was totally a book about them as adults, and I’ve heard it really isn’t good at all but I still want to read it…or maybe I just want a better book about them as adults to come out so I can read that instead.
I’m so happy we got a little glimpse into their lives as adults in the epilogue of The Deathly Hallows, and I’m so excited for Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, because it also features our beloved characters as adults. And I know some people are like, “Nope, we had our 7 books and that’s it. We don’t need more.” And I see what you’re saying, I really do, but I could read so many more stories about the Harry Potter world and I’d love it.
I haven’t finished this series (I will be doing it very soon!) so I don’t know if they even make it through the last book, but when I first read Glow I thought it would be super cool if there was another series after this one that dealt with characters who actually make it to the new planet. So yeah, I’d like to see the main characters as adults but I’d also like to see the people (generations after them, I think) who make it to the new planet and see what happens to them then. (But this could all be a pipe dream since I have no clue what happens in book 3.)
I still haven’t finished this series SO IF ZUZANA DIES, I RIOT, LAINI TAYLOR. But please NO SPOILERS. In my mind Zuzana and Mik ride off into the sunset as a happily married couple and they have a wonderful life together. So yeah, I’d like to see what crazy things they do as adults and see if they have some children.
I know there are probably tons of other characters that I’m forgetting but that’s all I could think of right now.
What characters would you like to revisit as adults? Let me know, or leave a link to your TTT in the comments, and I’ll try to stop by your blog!

May 3, 2016 at 12:35 pmOMG The Babysitters Club and Sweet Valley!! Man, I used to gobble those books up! I owned all the Sweet Valley High ones and I think they made it to like 100 books before going to University LOL! Obviously, I agree with Harry Potter but DoS&B is a good pick, I miss all of those characters a lot so I'd love to check in :)
