Waiting on Wednesday (66): Harry Potter and the Cursed Child
Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme, hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we’re eagerly anticipating.
Published by Little, Brown UK and Arthur A. Levine books (I’m not sure who is actually publishing it but these are the two publishers listed on Goodreads, other than Pottermore.) (*COVER NOT FINAL)
Based on an original new story by J.K. Rowling, Jack Thorne and John Tiffany, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, a new play by Jack Thorne, is the first official Harry Potter story to be presented on stage. It will receive its world premiere in London’s West End on 30th July 2016.
It was always difficult being Harry Potter and it isn’t much easier now that he is an overworked employee of the Ministry of Magic, a husband, and father of three school-age children.
While Harry grapples with a past that refuses to stay where it belongs, his youngest son Albus must struggle with the weight of a family legacy he never wanted. As past and present fuse ominously, both father and son learn the uncomfortable truth: sometimes darkness comes from unexpected places. (Temporary Cover and synopsis from Goodreads.)
So this is probably going to be a lot of people’s pick this week, but I just had to pick it. I mean, I was excited when I heard about the Cursed Child play, but I tried not to get to excited about it, since I didn’t know if I’d ever even get to see it. But now that they’re going to publish the script for us all to enjoy, I’m getting excited like it’s the mid 2000’s up in here. I’m going to preorder it from my favorite book store, but I probably won’t go to the midnight release party (we’re all 9 years older than we were when Deathly Hallows came out, and for some of us, that put us past the age of enjoying midnight release parties). But I am very, very excited for this book! And I can’t wait to see what the finalized cover will look like!
What book are you waiting on? Let me know, or leave a link to your WoW post in the comments, and I’ll try to stop by your blog!

February 17, 2016 at 12:45 pmAahhh no. Sorry, I love HP, but I'm not excited for this one at all. I don't even want to read it. XD It's a script of a play, which I don't read because it just doesn't work for me personally. And I don't want more HP. I want something new from JK Rowling. This isn't even really from her. She helped with the script, but it's not a real JK Rowling Harry Potter book for me.

February 17, 2016 at 6:23 pmOh, I didn't mean to imply that people of a certain age are too old or shouldn't go to midnight release parties. My apologies if it came across that way! I just simply meant that I personally, as I've gotten older, don't enjoy going to them, because it's so late. :)
