Top Ten Tuesday: Dear Book Genie
Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. Each week there is a new topic. I’m a huge fan of lists, so this meme is right up my alley!
This week’s topic is 10 Wishes I’d Ask The Book Genie To Grant Me.
For this week, I only included 5 wishes [EDIT: I’ve added one more] on my list, but I’m sure I could think of so many more. So here’s my top 5 6 wishes for the Book Genie, should I ever find him or her hiding in a lamp in the back room of an old library:
Faster Reading Speed
Please, oh please, Book Genie, make me read just a bit faster! I don’t have to be super fast or anything, in fact I don’t want to be so fast where I don’t remember what I’ve read. So please, just a bit faster? Like an average of 60 pages in an hour instead of 40?
Money To Open My Own Book Store/Bar
My husband and I dream of opening a book store/bar one day. The book store will be called The Overstuffed Bookcase, naturally, and it will be a primarily YA book store. But obvs, it’ll be for adults too, because of the attached bar next door. So, yeah, Book Genie? I’d love some cash for that. And if you could find a perfect building for it in NYC, that would be great. Mmmmkay?
A Job Where I Just Read All Day
I mean, I kind of already do that with this blog, but I don’t get paid for it. Yes, I get some free books sometimes and I get cool perks like being able to attend BEA, but it’s not the same. So could I get like a decent wage to just continue what I’m doing with the blog? It doesn’t have to be a really high-paying job. Just something that would make ends meet. That would be awesome.
More Time to Read/Blog/Write
Book Genie, you have an in with the Time Genie, right? You two can coordinate something where we could have like an 8th day of the week that’s just for fun stuff, right? Everyone could just do whatever they want on that day. I’d read, blog, and write. Get on this, genies!
A Bookish/Blogging Retreat
It would be really cool to have some sort of cabin in the mountains that has room for like 20 people where all my blogger and bookish friends would come to read and blog and hang out. And it would be close to a little town that has the coolest indie bookstore and some great coffee shops and a wonderful library. But maybe 20 people isn’t enough? Maybe we need like a whole area, like a summer camp kind of place (but more adult) where we could have an annual book blogger retreat for, like, hundreds of us. (Like the BEA Book Blogger Picnic, just on a much, much bigger scale.) BOOK GENIE, I NEED THIS TO HAPPEN.*
[EDIT: As I was reading other bloggers’ wishes, I thought of this one that I absolutely need.]
My Own Night Bookmobile
If you haven’t read The Night Bookmobile, a graphic novel by Audrey Niffenegger, and you’re a book lover, I suggest you read it! It’s super short and has this ending that I’m really not sure about, and I don’t really want to spoil it (I’m not going to spoil the ending, just a part of the book) but I have to so SPOILER WARNING. The main character finds a Night Bookmobile, which is this bus that has every book she’s ever read on it. I NEED A NIGHT BOOKMOBILE. Because there are SO MANY times that I think about a few books I read when I was a kid where I have forgotten the name of the book and I only remember a tiny bit of the book but I want to find it and re-read it. So, yeah, I need a Night Bookmobile, Book Genie. Thanks.
So what wishes would you ask for from the Book Genie? Let me know, or leave a link to your TTT in the comments, and I’ll try to stop by your blog!

*Seriously, though. My family meets for reunions at this state park where there are cabins to rent, and they each can hold like 2-8 people, and there are over 30 cabins. Plus there’s a lodge where tons more people could stay. It’s not the cheapest place in the world, but maybe there are cheaper ones. I would LOVE to get a group of bloggers together at a place like this. THAT WOULD BE SO AMAZING. I would volunteer to organize everything, too. I’d need help, obvs, and it would be hard for many people to be able to afford to go, but WOULDN’T IT BE GLORIOUS???? Now I want to do this SO, SO MUCH. I’ve talked about this several times with other bloggers but it’s always just a fantasy. I WANT TO MAKE IT HAPPEN. (I’m looking into it right now. I would love to do this, and I think it’s doable, but I don’t know how.)

My Thoughts.... Literally!
October 20, 2015 at 1:29 pmI love all of these! I definitely want a job where I can read all the time and to open a bookstore/bar. In fact, that could be my job where I can read all day.

October 20, 2015 at 9:16 pmI always thought there should be a bookstore/ ice cream shop. That's what I would do if I had capital! (I'd open it far enough away from yours that we wouldn't be competing, but close enough that I could visit. ;D)
