Top Ten Tuesday: Finished Series I Have Yet to Finish

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. Each week there is a new topic. I’m a huge fan of lists, so this meme is right up my alley!

This week’s topic is Ten Finished Series I Have YET to Finish. This topic was done before, in 2012, and you can see my list from then here

If you’re a geek about graphs and charts and things, you might enjoy this info. If not, you should probably just skip all this and head on down to my top ten list. ;) In the past year or so (I don’t remember exactly when), I made a series spreadsheet on my computer. On the spreadsheet, I’ve listed every series I’ve started, the books in each series (including novellas and companion books), and I’ve created a code as to whether I’ve finished the series, finished with the exception of the novellas, haven’t finished, won’t finish, etc. There are 111 series on the spreadsheet, as of the day I wrote this post, but I add more each time I start a new series. Here’s some fun data from the spreadsheet:

  • Out of those 111 series, I’ve only completely finished 8 of them.
  • With 10 series, I’ve finished them with the exception of the novellas.
  • With 2 of the series, I’ve finished all but the novellas, but there are more books yet to be published.
  • For 13 of the series, I’ve read all the books that are out so far, but there will be more published in the future.
  • And with all the rest, I haven’t finished the books that are already out, whether they have or do not have novellas, and whether they have more books yet to be published or not.
  • Out of the unfinished series, there are 9 that I just won’t finish. I never will, because I didn’t enjoy the books I read in that series.
  • And out of the unfinished series, there are 12 series that I probably won’t finish.

So, yeah, I’m a dork and probably spent way too much time making my spreadsheet, but oh, well.

I’ve decided that my list will consist of the ten finished series that I want to finish the most. So here they are, in alphabetical order by the author’s last name:

The Darkest Minds series by Alexandra Bracken

I have only read the first book in this series, but I really want to read them all, including the novellas. I may have to reread the first book and binge read the rest.

Graceling Realm series by Kristin Cashore
I know these are technically just companion novels, but I’m going to count them. I’ve only read Graceling, but I own Fire. I feel like I may need to reread Graceling before starting Fire, though, even though they’re companions, just because it’s been so long since I read Graceling.

Legend series by Marie Lu
I definitely have to reread Legend. I remember not writing many notes at all with this book, so rereading my notes before reading Prodigy isn’t going to cut it. My husband read Legend and Prodigy and loved them and for a time kept asking me when I was going to buy Champion. I still have’t bought it. Oops!

The Wicked Years series by Gregory Maguire

I LOVE this series. I started it back in the late ’90s and I have read all but the last book in the series. I’m definitely going to reread all of these and write reviews for them, too. I think I’m going to make it my goal to finish and review this series next year.

Jessica Darling series by Megan McCafferty
To be honest, I feel a bit scared to finish this series. Because the second book, Second Helpings, was SO GOOD and while I enjoyed the third, I just feel like I’m going to be crying my eyes out with the fourth and fifth books. So although I’m sure I’ll love those last two books, I just don’t know when I’ll read them. I will one day!

Anna and the French Kiss series by Stephanie Perkins

So, yeah, this is another companion series, really, but I LOVED the first two books and I can’t believe I haven’t read the third one yet. I think I may need to just buy the box set already!

The Song of the Lioness series by Tamora Pierce

I have only read Alanna: The First Adventure, but I just bought the other three books in the series, so I hope to finish this one very soon!

Sky Chasers series by Amy Kathleen Ryan
This is one of my absolute favorite series. It’s a lot like Across the Universe, so if you liked that series, you should check out Glow–it’s the first book in the Sky Chasers series. It’s been a long time since I read Glow and Spark, so I’l have to reread them before I read Flame, but I loved them so much that it’ll be fun to reread them!

Daughter of Smoke & Bone series by Laini Taylor

I’ve read the first two books and loved them, and I own the novella and the third book, so I just need to read them already! I need some more Zuzana in my life…

Leviathan series by Scott Westerfeld
Scott Westerfeld is one of my favorite authors, and I really enjoyed Leviathan. I own the other two books in the series, so hopefully I can finish this series soon!

I still need to even start Darkest Minds and Graceling but I own the first books for both of those series…so really, I have no excuse LOL Legend and Leviathan are two other series that I need to get into, actually I've owned a copy of Leviathan for so long that it's collecting dust on my bookshelf D: I only got into Alanna this year but I've read the first two books now and will definitely be going on with the series and the spinoffs! I definitely recomment finishing the DoS&B series though. So.Many.FEELS. XD

I never got around to finishing Darkest Minds, I did not get into it as much as I would have liked. I just started Daughter of Smoke and Bone, so I will be continuing that.

I love the Wicked Years series!

I've only finished two of the series you've posted – Anna and the French Kiss and Daughter of Smoke and Bone! I often get to the final book and freeze up because I don't want to END. (:

I've read both Graceling and Fire (though no Bitterblue – yet) and I definitely like Graceling more. But! Almost every person I know who has read both has loved Fire more, so I'm sure you will too. I'm just the black sheep, haha.

I feel like I've been saying this a lot today, but I definitely want to finish the Daughter of Smoke and Bone trilogy too. It's just that the books are so huge and it's been a while since I read DoSaB so I know I'm in for a reread.
