Recs for a Comic/Graphic Novel Noob
Hi everyone!
Recently I took to Twitter and asked for recs of great graphic novels and comics, as well as sites with great graphic novel/comic news and info. I also attended Worldcon last month, and one of the panels I went to was called Discovering New Comics, and authors James Bacon and Patrick Hester shared a ton of recs. I got permission from Patrick to list his recommendations here, and I sent a message to James, but never heard back from him. I’ve gone ahead and listed his recs anyway, so I hope he doesn’t get mad at me for that… I’ve also included some other sites and comics/graphic novels that I myself have found and enjoyed.
So if you’re a noob like me, or you just want to find some more great graphic novels and comics to read, I’ve got some great recommendations for you!

- Panels (rec’d by me and Memory Scarlett from In the Forest of Stories)

Subscription Box
- While on Instagram the other day, I came across a photo from Gail/Irish from Ticket to Anywhere, where she was showing off her Comic Bento subscription box. It looks so awesome so I thought I’d include it here on this list. It’s a box of graphic novels that you receive through the mail each month, and Gail said, “They do a new theme every month and you get your money’s worth each month. It’s def been more hit than miss for me and a great way to explore new comics.”
While Graphic Novel Month here at The Overstuffed Bookcase is winding down, I just want to thank everyone who visited during the event, as well as those who gave me some awesome recommendations for graphic novels and comics, as well as sites to find out more info and recommendations. I’m feeling less like a noob when it comes to graphic novels and comics, although I really have only scratched the surface.
And what about you guys? Do you have any favorite graphic novels or comics that aren’t listed here? Or any sites or blogs where you find info and recs for comics and graphic novels? Let me know in the comments, or send me a tweet (@OverstuffedBook) and I’ll add it to the list!
