April 2015 Readathon: Starting Line!

Dewey’s 24-Hour Read-A-Thon is a bi-annual readathon, hosted at 24hourreadathon.com, where readers and bloggers get together and read for 24 hours, sharing their experience with others.

Hello everyone! I got started a little late this morning, and had to feed my baby and play with my older kiddo a bit, so I haven’t been able to do this opening post yet. But I’ve already read a little so I’ve been readathoning!  :)

So here is my book pile for this readathon:

A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L’Engle
The Girl Who Owned a City (graphic novel) by O.T. Nelson, Dan Jolley, Joelle Jones, and Jenn Manley Lee
In Real Life (graphic novel) by Cory Doctorow and Jen Wang
The Island by Teri Hall
The Thief by Megan Whalen Turner
Tiger Lily by Jodi Lynn Anderson
Fairest by Marissa Meyer

My main goal for this readathon is to read The Girl Who Owned a City and In Real Life. If I can read both of those, I’ll be happy! Of course, I’d love to be able to read another book as well. I also just read The Yellow Wallpaper by Charlotte Perkins Gilman, the Readathon Readalong book. It also happens to be my favorite short story!

And here are my answers to the Opening Meme:

1) What fine part of the world are you reading from today?
Washington State, USA

2) Which book in your stack are you most looking forward to?
The Girl Who Owned a City graphic novel. I read the novel it’s based on in 6th grade and it has remained one of my favorite books of all time to this day. I’m so excited to read the graphic novel!

3) Which snack are you most looking forward to?
Damn it! I always forget to get snacks!

4) Tell us a little something about yourself!
I had a baby boy 8 weeks ago! I also have an older son. Luckily the hubs is available today to do kiddo duty while I read it up!

5) If you participated in the last read-a-thon, what’s one thing you’ll do different today? If this is your first read-a-thon, what are you most looking forward to?

I’ve participated in several readathons, and my most productive ones have been when I’ve stuck to short books and/or graphic novels. So that’s what I’m doing today!

Good luck to everyone who’s participating!  I hope to visit lots of people who are participating today!
