Waiting on Wednesday (40): Afterworlds by Scott Westerfeld

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme, hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we’re eagerly anticipating.

My pick this week:

by Scott Westerfeld
Release Date:  September 23, 2014
Published by Simon Pulse

Darcy Patel has put college and everything else on hold to publish her teen novel, Afterworlds. Arriving in New York with no apartment or friends she wonders whether she’s made the right decision until she falls in with a crowd of other seasoned and fledgling writers who take her under their wings… Told in alternating chapters is Darcy’s novel, a suspenseful thriller about Lizzie, a teen who slips into the ‘Afterworld’ to survive a terrorist attack. But the Afterworld is a place between the living and the dead and as Lizzie drifts between our world and that of the Afterworld, she discovers that many unsolved – and terrifying – stories need to be reconciled. And when a new threat resurfaces, Lizzie learns her special gifts may not be enough to protect those she loves and cares about most. (Cover and synopsis from Goodreads.)

This book doesn’t come out for a while, but it will be at BEA, and it is my number one must have book while I’m there!  Fingers crossed!

What book are you waiting on?  Let me know, or leave a link to your WoW post in the comments, and I’ll try to stop by your blog!

Also, are you a book blogger who will be at BEA?  You’re invited to the 2014 BEA Book Blogger Picnic and 2014 BEA Book Blogger Meet and Drink!  You can find all the info here.  Hope to see you there!

I really enjoyed Westerfield's Uglies series so I might need to try this book too. It sounds like a twisty read. :)

This is my WoW today too! And it's also my number one priority book when I go to BEA! I'm so excited for this book. I thought I would have to wait a really long time to read it, but then I heard that there will be ARCs at BEA and I squealed with excitement! Hopefully we'll both be able to pick up a copy at BEA. :)
