2014 Book Blogger Love-A-Thon Begins + Interview Swap!

The Book Blogger Love-a-Thon is an event where we can share our love for our fellow book bloggers! The event is hosted by Alexa at Alexa Loves Books and Katelyn at Kate’s Tales of Books and Bands.

Hi, everyone!  I’m excited to be participating in the Book Blogger Love-A-Thon for the second time!  I had tons of fun last year and met so many awesome bloggers, and I’m excited to meet lots more today!

The Book Blogger Love-A-Thon takes place today from 9AM to 9PM (EST) and also tomorrow from 9AM to 9PM (EST).  I will have several posts up both days, so I apologize for clogging up your feed readers.  If you want to join in, be sure to visit host blogs Alexa Love Books and Kate’s Tales of Books and Bands for more info!

And now it’s time for the first event of the day:  the interview swap!  Today I’ll be interviewing Jaime from Jaime Reads and Reviews, and she’ll be interviewing me over on her blog.

So here goes!

The Overstuffed Bookcase (TOB):  Where were you born and where do you call home?

Jaime:  I was born in Honolulu, Hawaii. My dad was in the military most of my life and when I was 20 he was ordained as a preacher. I currently live in Owensboro, Kentucky (the birthplace of Johnny Depp). I am divorced and have one angel baby. I have two of the most amazing nephews in the world.

TOB:  What genre is your favorite and why?

Jaime:  My favorite genres are YA dystopian and Adult mystery (love reading Dean Koontz books).

TOB:  Do you prefer ebooks, paperbacks or hardcover?

Jaime:  I have a Kindle and I like it quite a lot since I can carry 200 books at one time without killing my back, but I prefer to have hardback books.

TOB:  Have you ever read a book more than once?

Jaime:  Yep! Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice (adore that book).

TOB:  What book are you currently reading and in what format (ebook/paperback/hardcover)?

Jaime:  Unplanned by Abby Johnson (hardback) and Naughts and Crosses by Malorie Blackman in e-book. This may have changed once this interview has been posted.

TOB:  What book are you about to start reading?

Jaime:  I will probably finish Allegiant by Veronica Roth. I am loving that series.

TOB:  Are there any new authors that have grasped your interest recently and why?

Jaime:  Sara V. Zook and Megg Jensen. These two ladies are amazing writers and you should definitely read their books.

TOB:  Have you read a book that you would like to rewrite the ending of?

Jaime:  The whole Twilight series.

TOB:  How many books do you read in a month – roughly?

Jaime:  Some months I read a lot up to 10 books and some months I read only like 3 or 4 books.

TOB:  What fandoms are you a part of (books, TV, movies, music, whatever)?
Jaime:  My favorite TV shows are Criminal Minds, NCIS, NCIS LA, The Big Bang Theory, and Doctor Who.

TOB:  What was your favorite book before you became a blogger?

Jaime:  Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen.

TOB:  What’s one book that you read before becoming a blogger that you haven’t reviewed on your blog, but you’d like to?

Jaime:  The Cloud Prophet series by Megg Jensen.

TOB:  What things are necessary in a book for you to love it?

Jaime:  Great world building or the main character learns a major lesson.

TOB:  Do you have any hobbies outside of reading and blogging?

Jaime:  I like to scrapbook and teach Sunday School at my church.

Thanks so much, Jaime!  It was fun getting to know you!  I’m a huge Doctor Who fan, too!

Jaime, I love scrapbooking too! I don't do it as often as I used to (since all my photos are now digital), but it's definitely a stress-relieving, fun activity for me. I also now feel the urge to read Pride & Prejudice again!

I completely agree! Hardbacks will always stay "the thing", but Kindle definitely comes in handy :)

I love The big bang family :D The humor is exactly what I like. Good world-building is definitely an important aspect for me too!

Yay! Another Doctor Who fan! I also really love Dean Koontz but I realized that I have not read anything of his in a long time. I should see what's new! Nice to "meet" you!
