Waiting on Wednesday (37): Tin Star by Cecil Castellucci

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme, hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we’re eagerly anticipating.

My pick this week:

by Cecil Castellucci
Release Date:  February 25, 2014
Published by Roaring Brook Press

On their way to start a new life, Tula and her family travel on the Prairie Rose, a colony ship headed to a planet in the outer reaches of the galaxy. All is going well until the ship makes a stop at a remote space station, the Yertina Feray, and the colonist’s leader, Brother Blue, beats Tula within an inch of her life. An alien, Heckleck, saves her and teaches her the ways of life on the space station.

When three humans crash land onto the station, Tula’s desire for escape becomes irresistible, and her desire for companionship becomes unavoidable. But just as Tula begins to concoct a plan to get off the space station and kill Brother Blue, everything goes awry, and suddenly romance is the farthest thing from her mind. (Cover and synopsis from Goodreads.)

I absolutely love anything Sci-Fi, especially if it’s actually set in space.  So I’m hoping this will be a great read!  It sounds really cool, and I love that cover!

I am a bit confused over the plot, but it definitely seems sci fi! I usually gravitate towards fantasy, but if I learned anything in 2013 it was to not limit myself when it comes to genres. Sometimes a faery book or a sci fi book is exactly what I need to read!
