Oct. 2013 Readathon: Starting Line!

Dewey’s 24-Hour Read-A-Thon is a bi-annual readathon, hosted at 24hourreadathon.com, where readers and bloggers get together and read for 24 hours, sharing their experience with others.

Hi everyone!  How’s everyone doing so far?  I just woke up at the start of hour 3 and I’m still waking up, really.  I don’t know if I’ll actually start reading for a while…  Oh, well.  If I was a coffee drinker, I’d be chugging that right now.  As it is, I’ll be drinking a Dr. Pepper soon, and I might have to make a trip to Starbucks for a chai tea latte before too long.

Anyway, I’m here to share my book pile and my answers to the Introductionary Questionnaire.  Here is my very small book pile for this readathon:

A Game of Thrones by George R. R. Martin
Across a Star-Swept Sea by Diana Peterfreund
Altered by Gennifer Albin

My pile is so small because, once again, I’m having to read review books during Readathon and really can’t stray away from those if I want to get them read in time.  But I do have A Game of Thrones in there to spice it up a bit, and I can always add more books later.

My goal:  Finish Across a Star-Swept Sea.  I don’t think this will be a problem, because I’m really enjoying the book and although it’s not a super fast read and I’m not a fast reader by any means, I think I’ll be able to finish it today. Anything else is just bonus!
And here are my answers to the Introductory Questionnaire:

1) What fine part of the world are you reading from today?

Washington state, USA.

2) Which book in your stack are you most looking forward to?
All of them!  Across a Star-Swept Sea is awesome so far, and so is A Game of Thrones, and Altered is the sequel to Crewel, one of my favorite books last year.  So yeah, I’m pretty excited about all of them!

3) Which snack are you most looking forward to?
Once again, I’ve forgotten about the damn snacks.  Why?  Why do I always forget the snacks???  I’ll just have to settle for whatever we have in the pantry and fridge.

4) Tell us a little something about yourself!
I just moved from Oklahoma to Washington state at the end of August and while it’s beautiful here, I’m still getting adjusted.  And what is up with it being so cold in the north in October??  I’m used to short sleeves and shorts all the way up until sometime in November!  I feel like I’m in Winterfell or something. Winter is coming!!! ;)

5) If you participated in the last read-a-thon, what’s one thing you’ll do different today? If this is your first read-a-thon, what are you most looking forward to?
I’ve participated in quite a few readathons so far, but not much will be different today.  Every time readathon is over I think, “Next time I need to have my review copies cleared before readathon.  I need to be caught up so that I can just pick whatever books I feel like reading.  Small books and graphic novels and stuff.”  I think I’ve only done that once.  And this time is no exception.  Review books have to be read!  Luckily, they’re good ones!

Good luck to everyone who’s participating!  I hope to visit lots of people who are participating today, and I will try to respond to every comment that I receive!
