Top Ten Tuesday: I Want a Movie/TV Adaptation!

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. Each week there is a new topic. I’m a huge fan of lists, so this meme is right up my alley!

This week’s topic is Top Ten Books I Would Love To See As A Movie/TV Show.  I love this topic!  In April 2012, I participated in a TTT where I talked about all the books I wanted to see turned into a movie.  Some of my picks this time are the same, some are different.  So here’s my list:

10. Jessica Darling series by Megan McCafferty

Can’t you just see Jessica as a TV character?  I can.  And although we’d all argue about who would be the PERFECT Marcus Flutie, I’m sure whoever the casting director would choose would be HOT.

9. Sky Chasers series by Amy Kathleen Ryan

We need another TV series set in space. WE NEED IT. Well, at least I do.  And the Sky Chasers series could fit that bill.  I’d also love the Across the Universe series by Beth Revis as a TV show, but I think I like the Sky Chasers series just a teeny bit more…

8. Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell

The Fault in Our Stars is being made into a movie (Yay!), and I could see the same production company turning around and making Eleanor & Park.  Too bad Ellen Page isn’t younger and a redhead, because I’d love her as Eleanor!  Hmm, but maybe she’d be too jaded for Eleanor, anyway…

7. Crewel by Gennifer Albin

I’ve only read the first book in this series, but it was one of my favorite reads of last year and I think, with some really fancy graphics, this could be a beautiful film!

6. Jellicoe Road by Melina Marchetta

So this is the book that turned me into one of those people who occasionally wants to cry at a book.  I need this film so that I can cry my head off. Who’s with me?

5. Uglies series by Scott Westerfeld

Okay, so a movie for this has been supposedly in the works (pre-production) for years.  I NEED THIS MOVIE, HOLLYWOOD!  Bring it to the people if it’s a matter of funds!  Look at Veronica Mars!  Try out Kickstarter! Sure, it might not have the same fan backing as VMars (I mean seriously, that show was the shiz) but at least give it a try!  Please????

4. Ready Player One by Ernest Cline

Like Crewel, this book would have to have some pretty fancy graphics.  But this is supposedly in pre-production, and Ernest Cline will be one of the writers of the screenplay.  If this movie comes to fruition, so many people (myself included) will be geeking out so hard.

3. The Lunar Chronicles series by Marissa Meyer

There have been SO MANY retellings of fairy tales in books, movies, and TV shows, you can’t even count them.  But I think Marissa Meyer’s series, which is a retelling of four different fairy tales, is by far the best, and I’ll be VERY disappointed if these aren’t made into a movie or TV show.

2. The Girl Who Owned a City by O.T. Nelson

If you are a regular on my blog, you’ve heard of this book before.  If not, allow me to tell you a bit about it.  I read this book in 6th grade and it was one of my very first forays into the world of Sci-Fi.  In the book, a plague has wiped out everyone over the age of 13, and now all the kids of the world are left to fend for themselves without electricity and all the other things that are built and monitored by adults.  It’s not the most amazingly written book or anything, but I just love the concept and I always wanted to make it into a movie.  I even wrote a screenplay for it once.  It’s probably never going to be adapted, but I can dream…

1. Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling
Yeah, I know, this has already been adapted.  But my husband has said for a while that they should make it into a TV show, with each season focusing on one book.  And I think that’s a fantastic idea.  I’d definitely fund that show on Kickstarter.  I’d also love to see any kind of spinoff, something like the fake ad on the right.  I’d watch the heck out of a show called The Marauders.

What books do you really want to see adapted into a movie or a TV show? Let me know, or leave a link to your TTT in the comments, and I’ll stop by your blog!

I'd loooooooooooooove a Harry Potter TV show. I remember one April Fools' day a few years ago, someone released a trailer for a TV show called The Aurors or something and I was so devastated that it wasn't real. That would be so great.

I also have Cinder/The Lunar Chronicles on my list. Meyer's retellings are by far the most creative. I would love to see New Beijing and especially Luna! I'll be sorely disappointed if they never adapt this one for the big screen.

Eleanor & Park is making a lot of lists. I haven't read it yet but plan to this month. And I agree about Cinder. I would love to see it made into a TV show.

I think Jessica Darling as a tv show would be GREAT. I have Cinder and Eleanor & Park on my list too :) If only it was a perfect world and they turned out great!

Okay, honestly, I'm not sure how I feel about Eleanor & Park being a movie. I'm not sure I could watch it. You know how much I love audible books but I don't even want to listen to this book because I love the Eleanor & Park that is in my head and I don't want anything to change that! But I love the book so much that I want success for it and I want only good things for Rainbow Rowell….so I just don't know!
