Top Ten Tuesday: Best Sequels
Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. Each week there is a new topic. I’m a huge fan of lists, so this meme is right up my alley!
This week’s topic is Top Ten Best Sequels Ever. I realized that while I read a lot of books that are a part of a series, I have yet to read many of the sequels in these series. I guess that’s why I decided to sign up for the 2013 Sequel Challenge. But here is my list, in alphabetical order by the author’s last name:
The Restaurant at the End of the Universe by Douglas Adams
I enjoyed most of the Hitchhiker’s Guide series, but I really loved the first one and this one, which was the second. Lots of funny parts in this book and a great twist!
The Year of the Flood by Margaret Atwood
I enjoyed Oryx and Crake, but I really loved The Year of the Flood. I can’t wait to finish the trilogy with MaddAddam, which was just recently published!
Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins
I know a lot of people liked The Hunger Games the best in this series, but I just loved that twist with the arena in this one!
Second Helpings by Megan McCafferty
I really enjoyed Sloppy Firsts and Charmed Thirds (I have yet to read the rest of the series), but Second Helpings was definitely my favorite so far!
Scarlet by Marissa Meyer
I think I actually liked Cinder a bit more, but Scarlet was still a fantastic book. This is one of my favorite series of all time! I can’t wait to read Cress and Winter!
Pandemonium by Lauren Oliver
I enjoyed Delirium, but I loved Pandemonium! Maybe it’s because I’m Team Julian? ;) I know lots of people were disappointed with Requiem, but I’m looking forward to reading it one of these days!
All the Harry Potter sequels by J.K. Rowling
Of course. Specifically the third book, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. That’s my absolute favorite book of all time. But of course I loved them all!
Spark by Amy Kathleen Ryan
Glow and Spark were both fantastic, and I loved the more complex characterization in Spark! I’m impatiently awaiting the release of Flame.
Days of Blood & Starlight by Laini Taylor
This is another one of those times when I enjoyed the first book, but LOVED the second! Zuzana is my favorite side character of all time, and she is in this book so much more than the first, so I loved it!
Extras by Scott Westerfeld
I know a lot of people didn’t like the sequels to this story, and a whole lot of people really didn’t like Extras, but Extras and Uglies are my favorites of the series! I really need to read his other books, like now!
What are some of your favorite sequels? Let me know, or leave a link to your TTT in the comments, and I’ll stop by your blog!

September 24, 2013 at 11:27 pmI have Mockingjay on my list, but I could just as easily have used Catching Fire. I loved all three equally. And Days of Blood and Starlight was wonderful.
