Top Ten Tuesday: Light & Fun Reads
Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. Each week there is a new topic. I’m a huge fan of lists, so this meme is right up my alley!
This week’s topic is Top Ten Books When You Need Something Light & Fun. My list isn’t really all light and fun–but a lot of them are just books I’m so familiar with that they really are a refreshing read for me. Or they’re just so different than what I usually read that it’s a nice change. Or they’re maybe not very light, but definitely fun!
So here’s my kinda weird list:
This series is my absolute favorite series of all time, so when I’m in a rut or need something different, I really need to look no further. Of course, this series isn’t light at all, but it does have some great humor, and it’s a wonderful comfort read for me.
A few years ago, when we heard that Sweet Valley Confidential: Ten Years Later was coming out, Courtney from Abducted by Books and I wanted to read a whole bunch of Sweet Valley High Books ASAP. So I got on Ebay and bought like 30 of them for around $35. That year, I read about half of them, and I still have half to go, including a whole bunch of the Super Editions. They’re light, and even when they include a serious subject they’re still pretty cheesy. Plus it’s great nostalgia for me. I’d like to read the rest of them sometime soon, but unless I can think of some kind of feature for them, I really don’t think I’ll be reviewing them, so I’ve been putting off reading them.
I’m a few books behind in this series, but I really enjoy these books and while they’re not always really light, they’re fun, easy reads. One of these days I’ll finish the series.
I’ve only read a couple of the books in this series, but they’re definitely fun and great quick reads. My friend gave me quite a few of these books and I hope to get to them someday soon!
I still haven’t read the last two books in this series, but I always know I can pick these up and find a hilarious and heartfelt read.
These books aren’t always really light, either, but they’re just such great stories and they just make me feel all warm and fuzzy. I can’t wait for the third book to come out!
I haven’t yet read all of this series, but I hope to finish it this year. They’re just such fun, adventurous stories and they’re so small that even a horribly slow reader like me can finish one in a day.
I still have only read the first book in this series (That’s crazy, I know!) but I know that when I finally get to read the next book it’ll be a lot of fun. Plus: Hale!
Well, that’s it for my list this week. I don’t really read a lot of Chick Lit or Romance or anything so a lot of my books are pretty heavy. But these are all books that make me smile and can definitely turn a bad day around. What are your go-to books when you need something light and fun, or just something to give you the warm fuzzies? Let me know, or leave a link to your TTT in the comments, and I’ll stop by your blog!

May 7, 2013 at 4:05 pmHi Andrea! I haven't created my TTT post as yet, but will add it later.
I absolutely loved the Sweet Valley High series, when I was growing up I had HEAPS! I really enjoyed the originals, and some of the special editions were good, I liked The Wakefield Saga for example, but some of them were just plain strange, like murders and weird teens wanting one of the twins dead LOL but they are definitely fun!
I also love the Sookie Stackhouse series, I'm up to book 11, I cannot believe 13 is out already and I can't believe that the series has now come to an end :( I'm really looking forward to reading Charlaine's next series, whatever that maybe…but the other series' that she has are quite good too. All very light reads, but still good.
I also really enjoyed The Heist Society but like yourself I've only read book 1 although I've got the consecutive books in my collection LOL

May 10, 2013 at 11:54 pmI didn't do a list this week because I wasn't sure that I could come up with ten light reads. I always think chick lit when I hear light and I don't read those anymore so… But after reading your list, I could have come up with almost the same 10. Great minds think alike and all that! I think I read every SWH that was out when I was younger. Oh the memories.
