That cold day in hell? It’s here…

Manhattan Ten, Book 2

If Ivory’s fellow flight attendants whisper that she has ice in her veins, they’d be right. She’s spent years ruthlessly suppressing her dangerous ice powers, pretending she didn’t grow up wild on the tundra.

Her legendary coolness has held solid—until a crazed attacker snaps her composure, unleashing her ice beast and blowing her cover. And she’s not sure if the man who defuses the situation is any less dangerous.

When Panther’s trans-Atlantic catnap is interrupted by Ivory’s ice spear through his mark’s gut, he doesn’t hesitate to claim her as one of the Manhattan Ten. It’s the only way to shield her from prosecution. It doesn’t hurt that the Nordic beauty puts his inner cat on the prowl.

Panther tempts Ivory in every smoldering way, but to let him melt her resistance is a risk she can’t afford. But when her past rises up to claim her, Pan is caught in the crossfire…and the only way to save him is to let the beast claim her, body and soul.

Product Warnings
Contains one smoldering ice vixen and the sexy beast man who wants to get his claws all over her. Make sure your icemaker is in tip-top shape before reading. Mukluks optional. (Cover and synopsis from Goodreads)

*Warning:  This is the second book in a series.  While I really don’t like spoilers, you might find some slight Book 1 spoilers in this review.*

A Nice Sequel/Prequel…

Ivory is the second book in the Manhattan Ten, but it technically takes place before the events in the first book, Temptress.  And I really enjoyed Temptress when I read it last year (my review here), so I was excited to get Ivory from the author as well.  And I think that Ivory lived up to its predecessor.

I really enjoyed the characters of Ivory and Panther–I actually liked Panther right from the first time the book is from his POV, and his character just kept getting better as the story went along.  And I think the plot to this book was really interesting, with someone out there killing superheroes, and also with Ivory’s mysterious background.

I also really love the fact that in this series, the Manhattan Ten are a group of superheroes who are household names, just like how it is in comic books. So many novels these days are about superheroes or supernatural beings who have to hide their true selves, and I like how in Ivory random people see Panther and know who he is and suddenly feel safe.  Also, the public gives the superheroes their superhero names, just like in a lot of comic books.  I love that!

Very Mature Scenes…

The only part I really don’t like about this series is the sex scenes.  It’s just not my thing.  But if you like some hot scenes in your books, then you should definitely try this series!  And I do have to say that the scenes in Ivory weren’t as bad as some of the sex scenes I’ve read in other books.  And I really enjoy the rest of the series enough that I can overlook those scenes.

My rating for Ivory by Lola Dodge:

4 big stars.  I’m definitely looking forward to reading the future books in this series!

Yeah, I don't usually read paranormal romance, because the steamy scenes are a bit much for me.

I'm not big on Paranormal Romance either and if there is going to be a sex scene, then I like them very tame. Jen Crusie is about all I can stand in that department.
