Bout of Books 6.0

The Bout of Books read-a-thon is organized by Amanda @ On a Book Bender and Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal. It is a week long read-a-thon that begins 12:01am Monday, January 7th and runs through Sunday, January 13th in whatever time zone you are in. Bout of Books is low-pressure, and the only reading competition is between you and your usual number of books read in a week. There are challenges, giveaways, and a grand prize, but all of these are completely optional. For all Bout of Books 6.0 information and updates, be sure to visit the Bout of Books blog. – From the Bout of Books 6.0 team

Hello everyone!  I decided to sign up for this Bout of Books read-a-thon a bit late, but better late than never!  This will be my first time participating in a Bout of Books read-a-thon!

I’ll be using this post to update my progress all week long.

Time Devoted to Reading

I’ll be reading all week, as much as I can while my son naps and after he goes to bed at night.

My Goals

  • Read at least 2 books (my reading is horribly slow so 2 books in a week is good for me, but 3 would be even better!)
  • Try to comment on other blogs every day (since my reading is so slow, I don’t know that I’ll be able to comment too much, but I’m going to try!)

Books to Read

Updates

Monday, January 7

Number of books I’ve read today: 0 (78 pages)
Total number of books I’ve read: 0
Books: Glow by Amy Kathleen Ryan

I really wanted to get halfway done with Glow today, but it just didn’t happen.  But I’m glad I got 1/4 of the way in!  And I got some commenting done today, too, yay!

Tuesday, January 8
Number of books I’ve read today: 0 (157 pages)
Total number of books I’ve read: 0
Books:  Glow by Amy Kathleen Ryan

I didn’t get any commenting done today, but I did reach my goal of reading 150 pages for the day!  Only 72 pages to go for Glow!

Wednesday, January 9
Number of books I’ve read today: Finished 1, started another
Total number of books I’ve read: 1
Books:  Glow by Amy Kathleen Ryan, Spark by Amy Kathleen Ryan

I read a total of 150 pages today (the last 72 pages of Glow and the first 78 pages of Spark).  I didn’t get any commenting done, but I hope to do some tomorrow!

Thursday, January 10
Number of books I’ve read today: 0 (83 pages)
Total number of books I’ve read: 1
Books:  Spark by Amy Kathleen Ryan

I only read 83 pages today, which is a tad disappointing, but when I think about it, it’s still more pages than I’m usually able to read in a day, so it’s okay!  I also didn’t get any commenting done.  But hopefully I’ll be able to do more of that this weekend!

Friday, January 11
Number of books I’ve read today: 0 (100 pages)
Total number of books I’ve read: 1
Books: Spark by Amy Kathleen Ryan

Almost done with Spark!  I didn’t get any commenting done today, either.  Hopefully I’ll have lots of time to read and comment this weekend!

Saturday, January 12
Number of books I’ve read today: Finished 1, started another
Total number of books I’ve read: 2
Books:  Spark by Amy Kathleen Ryan, Days of Blood & Starlight by Laini Taylor

I finished Spark today!  I read a total of 118 pages today (the last 48 pages of Spark, and the first 70 pages of Days of Blood & Starlight), but I didn’t get any commenting done.  I need to get on that!

Sunday, January 13
Number of books I’ve read today: 0 (58 pages)
Total number of books I’ve read: 2
Books:  Days of Blood & Starlight by Laini Taylor

I kind of wound down today and didn’t want to do much reading.

Wrap Up

I reached my goal of 2 books!  I didn’t, however, comment hardly at all.  I wish I had been able to more!  But I will be responding back to those of you who commented on my blog!  Overall a pretty successful first attempt at Bout of Books!  I’ll definitely be participating again!

Did you participate too?  Leave me a link to your updates or wrap up page in the comments, and I’ll stop by your blog!

Good luck to you. I read slow too, so I'm hoping to finish 2 books this week as well.

You got this!! I think if you get the Laini Taylor book you might be able to reach 3 books- it was hard to put down! Although, with a small child I guess every book has to be made put down-able.

I'm glad you decided to do it, this is one of my favorite readathons (a lot less pressure than the 24 hour readathon) I hope you get to all your books.

I've had Glow sat on my shelf for ages and still not read it! Need to get down that review pile a bit so that I can read some of the books I keep buying! Good luck!

Congrats on meeting your goal. Two books in a week is great. I didn't comment a lot either this week but I'm trying to make up for it now. Good luck on your next readathon!
