2013 Reading Challenges + Resolutions!
Hello, everyone!
It’s a new year, and with it come New Year’s Resolutions and new reading challenges! So this week I’ve written 2 different posts all about reading challenges and resolutions. Yesterday’s post was all about the 2012 reading challenges I attempted, and this post is for me to share the 2013 reading challenges I will attempt as well as my 2013 blogging/bookish resolutions.
2013 Reading Challenges
I will be updating my progress of these challenges on my Reading Challenges page.
Goodreads 2013 Reading Challenge
This year I’m setting a goal of 60 books. I hope I can read a bit faster this year and get a few more books in. I wish I was a fast reader so that I could read 100 or more in a year, but alas, I’m not.
This challenge is hosted by Bev at My Reader’s Block, and it’s all about getting to those books that you own but haven’t yet read. They have to be books you own before January 1 2013. I’m attempting the Mount Blanc level, where you read 24 books from your TBR pile.
Here are some of the books (in alphabetical order by author) I hope to read this year for the Mount TBR Reading Challenge (these are of course subject to change, as I have over 100 books that I own but haven’t yet read):
Obsidian by Jennifer L. Armentrout
The Future of Us by Jay Asher and Carolyn Mackler
I’d Tell You I Love You, But Then I’d Have to Kill You by Ally Carter
Uncommon Criminals by Ally Carter
Tempest by Julie Cross
The Search for WondLa by Tony DiTerlizzi
The Lonely Hearts Club by Elizabeth Eulberg
Two For the Dough by Janet Evanovich
If I Stay by Gayle Forman
Where She Went by Gayle Forman
Away by Teri Hall
The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin
Monument 14 by Emmy Laybourne
Love is the Higher Law by David Levithan
Prince Caspian by C.S. Lewis
Fourth Comings by Megan McCafferty
Glitches by Marissa Meyer
Venom by Fiona Paul
Black City by Elizabeth Richards
Under the Never Sky by Veronica Rossi
Spark by Amy Kathleen Ryan
Outside In by Maria V. Snyder
Leviathan by Scott Westerfeld
Uglies: Cutters by Scott Westerfeld
This challenge is hosted by Geo at Auntie Spinelli Reads, and is all about reading past that first book in a series! All books after the first book in a series count, and novellas count as long as they come after the first book. You set your own goal for this challenge, and my goal is to read at least 10.
Here are some of the books (in alphabetical order by author) I can possibly read for this challenge (and of course these are subject to change):
Fuse by Julianna Baggott
Uncommon Criminals by Ally Carter
Fire by Kristin Cashore
Two for the Dough by Janet Evanovich
Away by Teri Hall
Prince Caspian by C.S. Lewis
Fourth Comings by Megan McCafferty
Infinityglass by Myra McEntire
Scarlet by Marissa Meyer
A Touch of Scarlet by Eve Marie Mont
Hana by Lauren Oliver
Requiem by Lauren Oliver
Shades of Earth by Beth Revis
Spark by Amy Kathleen Ryan
Outside In by Maria V. Snyder
Days of Blood & Starlight by Laini Taylor
Uglies: Cutters by Scott Westerfeld
Well, those are all my challenges so far for 2013. I may join up for a few more, but most likely they’ll be pretty easy ones.
2013 Blogging/Bookish Resolutions
Okay, so these past few months have been super hectic for me and my blogging duties have kind of fallen by the wayside. So I’ve decided to make some blogging/bookish resolutions, and I hope by sharing them with all of you it will make me more accountable.
So here goes!
- In 2013, I will continue to try and post every other day. If I miss a few, it will not be a huge deal, but I will still try to keep up with the every-other-day schedule 95% of the time.
- I will find a happy medium in commenting. When I first started my blog, I was commenting like crazy. In the past few months, I can count the number of my comments on one hand. In 2013, I will have a specific day when I comment each week, and I will try to comment as much as possible on that day. I will also comment other days if I can.
- I will get all my 2012 reviews up on Goodreads. I have several of them already there, but I will make sure to get all the others posted there as well. I will also post my 2013 reviews on Goodreads as soon as possible after they are posted on my blog.
- I will attempt all the reading challenges above. If I do not complete them, I hope to at least reach 75% of each.
- This one is more about writing, but I’ll add it here anyway: I will try to complete the first draft of my 2012 NaNoWriMo novel by October 31, 2013.
So there they are, my 2013 Bookish/Blogging Resolutions. Do you guys have any blogging or bookish resolutions for the new year? And what reading challenges are you going to attempt in 2013? Let me know, or if you’ve written a similar post, leave a link in the comments and I’ll stop by your blog!

January 3, 2013 at 2:58 pmAwesome goals, Andrea and a pile of awesome books to be read! I'm with you on the commenting, I go through periods where I'm doing great and then periods where I'm dismal at it!

January 3, 2013 at 4:38 pmThere are some awesome books on those lists so I hope you can get to them all! And technically if you finish If I Stay and go on to read Where She Went then that one would count towards both your mountain challenge and your sequel challenge!
