Sundays in Bed With… (15)

Sundays in Bed With… is a new meme/feature started by my friend Kate at Midnight Book Girl, where we can highlight the book that we’re spending the day in bed reading (or the one we wish we could be reading all day in bed!).

I’m spending this Sunday in Bed With…

The Amber Spyglass, by Philip Pullman

Not only am I reading it as part of my His Dark Materials Readalong, but this whole series is on the list of banned and challenged books, and even though Banned Books Week is over, I’m a big supporter of reading banned or challenged books any time of year.  And if you haven’t read this series, it’s not too late to join our readalong!  Go here for more info.

What are you spending this Sunday in bed with?  Let me know in the comments, or leave a link to your post if you’re participating in this meme and I’ll stop by your blog!

Oh, my favourite of the series…Will Parry is my original book crush/boyfriend, with all my 13-year-old heart could handle at the time haha.

That is a great picture of your kitty and the book! Plus, I think my meme picture always looks really good against your pink background. And I do read banned and challenged books, because I like reading dangerously and by nature I am so freaking cautious that I like reading about characters who aren't so rational and fearful.

I fully support reading banned books any time of year as well. In fact there have been a few times when I've purposely gone out of my way to read a banned book (Perks of Being a Wall Flower being the one that sticks out the most right now) just because it was banned. People come up with the craziest reasons to ban books too, it's ridiculous.

Anyways, I hope you had a great Sunday and enjoy The Amber Spyglass!

I'm so depressed that I haven't been able to participate in your readalong. I LOVE these books.

I didn't get to participate in Banned Book week like I would have liked to but I guess since I was listening to Golden Compass the whole time that counts! I'm hoping to finish Part II today so that I can post my answers to both parts later.
