Waiting on Wednesday (11): Ten by Gretchen McNeil

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme, hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we’re eagerly anticipating.

My pick this week:

Gretchen McNeil
Release Date:  September 18, 2012
by Balzer + Bray

And their doom comes swiftly.

It was supposed to be the weekend of their lives—an exclusive house party on Henry Island. Best friends Meg and Minnie each have their reasons for being there (which involve T.J., the school’s most eligible bachelor) and look forward to three glorious days of boys, booze and fun-filled luxury.

But what they expect is definitely not what they get, and what starts out as fun turns dark and twisted after the discovery of a DVD with a sinister message: Vengeance is mine.

Suddenly people are dying, and with a storm raging, the teens are cut off from the outside world. No electricity, no phones, no internet, and a ferry that isn’t scheduled to return for two days. As the deaths become more violent and the teens turn on each other, can Meg find the killer before more people die? Or is the killer closer to her than she could ever imagine? (From Goodreads)

So it’s only a couple of weeks until Ten comes out, and I’m really excited about it!  I’ve wanted to read this book for a while, even though it sounds really scary.  Something about it just sounds fantastic!  I’ve even decided to pick it for my next book club selection, because I’m hosting next month and my book club always tries to read something scary for the month of October.  I’m so excited to read it!

Also, I’ve been so behind, but I’ve finally joined the Army of Ten.  Don’t know what it is?  Well, it’s a way for us readers and bloggers to spread the word about Ten and with each way we promote it, we earn a new ranking and can win some great prizes!  With this post, I’ve earned the ranking of Lieutenant! See, it’s that easy!  Check out armyoften.blogspot.com for more info!

What book are you waiting on?  Let me know, or leave a link to your WoW post in the comments, and I’ll stop by your blog!

TEN. TEN. TEN. TEN. Okay I'm not doing that ten times but you get my point. I'm freaking stoked about this one, even with the creepiness. Have you seen what it looks like "naked"/without the dust jacket? Creepy and awesome. : )

I just got it and I'm so excited to read it! But first I have to "reveal" it to my book club as our October read! And I completely forgot about what it looked like without the dust jacket until I reread your comment and so I had to open my copy and stare at the awesomeness! ;)

Gretchen McNeil was beyond cute at BEA, and I like when cute people have an evil side. Ten really reminds me of old school YA horror. Enough with the paranormal romance, I want a high body count! ;)

She's so adorable, isn't she? I've been following her on Twitter and reading her blog and she's just so cute! And yes, I think it's awesome that she's so cute yet she has this evil side! And I'm glad that you, our resident Horror Queen, loved Ten! ;)

I loved Ten. But since you are a little more like me and a little less like Kate I recommend reading this preferably in one sitting, but definitely during the day!

Oh, yeah, I'm definitely reading this one during the day, preferably when the hubs is at home! ;) I'm so glad that you loved it, though, because you and I are definitely alike in our feelings towards scary books!
