Stacking the Shelves (5)
Stacking the Shelves is a weekly meme, hosted by Tynga at Tynga’s Reviews, where bloggers can share the books and bookish items that we’ve bought, borrowed, or received each week.
This StS is for the past two weeks.

I had one of those really cruddy days about a week and a half ago, and I realized that I needed some retail therapy. I’m not a big shopper, but when it comes to books, I can shop like the best of them. I also had some money to burn that I had won in the cruise ship’s casino on my trip. So I headed to Half Price Books and maybe bought too much… Anyway, I got:
A Long Way Down by Nick Hornby
The Forest of Hands and Teeth by Carrie Ryan
Wake by Lisa McMann
Fire by Kristin Cashore
Leviathan by Scott Westerfeld
Sloppy Firsts, Second Helpings, Charmed Thirds, Fourth Comings, and Perfect Fifths by Megan McCafferty (I’ve read Sloppy Firsts but I’m about to go on a YA Contemporary reading binge because I’ve been craving these Jessica Darling books!)

I also bought that cool bookmark while we were in Florence, Italy, and they added my initials for free.
What did you guys get this week? Let me know, or leave a link to your StS post (or IMM or any other alternative) in the comments and I’ll stop by your blog!

July 7, 2012 at 11:15 amThe last 2 weeks for me have been filled with complications and crummyness and I considered some retail therapy, but I refrained. Just barely.
I hope your enjoying Pandemonium and that you have good time reading all your contemporaries!

July 8, 2012 at 4:56 pmI probably should have held myself back, but luckily Half Price Books is pretty cheap and I got all of those books for like $60, whereas I would have gotten maybe 4 books at Barnes & Noble for the same price!
I'm loving Pandemonium so far, and I can't wait to read those contemporaries!!

July 7, 2012 at 11:43 amLovely bookmark. Fire's the only one of Cashore's books that I struggled to get into at first, my favourite's the next one Bitterblue. Loved Pandemonium.
My last two weeks have been weird too! :S. Happy reading!

July 7, 2012 at 2:18 pmPandemonium and Wake were extremely good books! I haven't read Fire yet, since I don't want to let go of Katsa and Po, and also, I'm not a historical fiction person so I didn't like Leviathan, but it looked really good! :)
Check out my Stacking the Shelves!

July 8, 2012 at 5:04 pmI think Leviathan is probably considered more Steampunk than Historical Fiction, but I guess it falls under Historical Fiction since Steampunk is normally set in the late-19th or early-20th century. But I guess if you don't like stuff set in that time period then you wouldn't like Steampunk! ;)
But I get you about not wanting to let go of Katsa and Po. I hope to read Fire and Bitterblue someday soon, though. And I'm loving Pandemonium so far!
Thanks for stopping by, and I'm off to check out your StS!

July 7, 2012 at 7:39 pmYAY!!!! – for A Long Way Down! Now that I have officially "read" a Nick Hornby novel I can't wait to read more!
And I hope you like Wake, I really liked it but it isn't one that I would be confident in recommending to certain people
Andrea @ The Overstuffed Bookcase
July 8, 2012 at 7:08 pmI'm looking forward to A Long Way Down! I think this might be one of the few books that I've waited until a week before book club to read it… I'm cutting it kind of close but I know I'll finish it because I always do! ;)

July 8, 2012 at 9:36 amI had a bookmark like that, too! I'm sure I still have it somewhere, but haven't seen it since I moved to the States so I'll go with a past tense haha. Anyway, fantastic set of books this week! I've really got to get on with the Jessica Darling series, i've only read Sloppy Firsts. I loved it, just haven't continued for some reason.
Happy reading!
Andrea @ The Overstuffed Bookcase
July 8, 2012 at 7:28 pmYeah, I've only read Sloppy Firsts, too, but I just really want to gobble up a whole bunch of YA Contemporary right now, so I'm glad I found the whole series for really cheap!

July 8, 2012 at 9:15 pmI haven't really read any zombie books – well, I read one but it really didn't have too many zombies in it. So I'm interested in reading The Forest of Hands and Teeth!
Thanks so much for stopping by and for following! I'm off to check out your Showcase Sunday! ;)

July 13, 2012 at 10:39 pmI really really really loved Leviathan by Scott Westerfeld. My brother finished the whole trilogy but I haven't gotten to it yet. The illustrations are gorgeous and the world building is exceptional. Plus, it's steampunk (which I love) and alternate history (which I find fascinating).
Hope you enjoy it!

July 14, 2012 at 10:07 pmI LOVE the Uglies series by Scott Westerfeld, so I'm really looking forward to reading his other books! And I didn't even know there were illustrations in Leviathan! Now I'm really looking forward to it!!!
