Memes

Random Reads – June 2012

Random Reads is a meme hosted by Sarah at I’m Loving Books where we can pick a random book from our TBR shelf, and read it for that month!

Last month, I saw that a few bloggers I follow were participating in this meme, and I thought, “Oh, yeah, I should do that in June!”  So now it’s June and I’m participating in my very first Random Reads!

I have a really HUGE TBR list on Goodreads, so I decided to stick with the books that I already own but haven’t read.  So I made myself a new shelf on Goodreads for those books, and I had 100 books on that shelf!  And that’s really not even all of them, because I decided not to include books that I probably won’t want to read any time soon.

So I went to Random.org and did their Random Number Generator and came up with #18, which happens to be Graceling by Kristin Cashore.  I’ve only owned this book for a couple of months but I’ve wanted to read it for a while, because one of my book club friends really loves this series.  Plus, I’ve heard plenty of great things about it from bloggers!  I have a few other books to read before I can get to Graceling, including a book for review, but I hope to be able to read this one in June!
Are you participating in Random Reads this month?  If so, let me know what your random book is, or leave a link to your post in the comments and I’ll stop by your blog!

I know, I think this meme is so cool! And I'm super happy I got Graceling, because I've heard it's so good!

Yay, Graceling! I may have to reread this soon since I think I read it in 2010 – my memory does not reach that far! Haha.

    Hope you enjoy it!

I know how you feel! That's why I've been rereading so many books lately! Well, that and so that I can actually write a review for them on here!

I just saw this for the first time on someone else's blog earlier tonight and immediately loved the idea! I think I'm going to try to do it next month, though take a page from you and make a new GR list with books I already own but haven't read. My mountain of unreads are glaring at me, and I really need to get cracking on them haha.

I've not read Graceling yet, but I hope you enjoy it!

It's a great idea, isn't it? I did a reading challenge last year called "Off the Shelf" and it was great because I read a lot of the books on my shelves that I just hadn't gotten around to reading yet. I'll probably participate in that challenge again next year. Or maybe I'll just try to do this meme each month!

You really should! I think it'll be a great way of getting to those books that are on our shelves that have been pushed aside when we HAVE TO read those other shiny new books! And it's only one book a month so it's totally doable!

This is such a fun idea for a meme. I have so many books that end up in the tbr and get buried for years. I love the whole randomness of it.

It is such a great meme, isn't it? I participated in a reading challenge last year where I read 15 books from my shelves and it was a great way to read those books that had been forgotten! So this is a great way to get to one of those books each month! Thanks so much for stopping by!

I remember you telling me about this book and I remember you and the other girls at book club talking about the cover. I don't remember what you guys were saying about the cover but I can tell you that when your post came up on my screen my first thought was "Ooh, cool cover!"

I was the one who said I didn't much like the cover (hanging my head in shame). And it's taking me FOREVER to read this one for some reason (my vacation, of course, is partly to blame), but it really is very good so far! I hope to finish it soon so that I can move on because there are so many other books I want to read!
