Waiting on Wednesday (5): Breathe by Sarah Crossan
Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme, hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we’re eagerly anticipating.
My pick this week:
Inhale. Exhale. Breathe. Breathe. Breathe . . .
The world is dead.
The survivors live under the protection of Breathe, the corporation that found a way to manufacture oxygen-rich air.
ALINA
has been stealing for a long time. She’s a little jittery, but not terrified. All she knows is that she’s never been caught before. If she’s careful, it’ll be easy. If she’s careful.QUINN
should be worried about Alina and a bit afraid for himself, too, but even though this is dangerous, it’s also the most interesting thing to happen to him in ages. It isn’t every day that the girl of your dreams asks you to rescue her.
BEA
wants to tell him that none of this is fair; they’d planned a trip together, the two of them, and she’d hoped he’d discover her out here, not another girl. And as they walk into the Outlands with two days’ worth of oxygen in their tanks, everything they believe will be shattered. Will they be able to make it back? Will they want to? (From Goodreads)
This one just sounds so good! And it sounds a bit like Pure by Julianna Baggott (my review here), and the cover is so cool and it reminds me of Pure as well.
What book are you waiting on? Let me know, or leave a link to your WoW post in the comments, and I’ll stop by your blog!

May 16, 2012 at 5:27 amThis one does look good, but the idea of not being able to breathe well freaks me out, so I think it may be hard for me to get to. I'm definitely looking forward to your thoughts when you finally get to read it, though.

May 17, 2012 at 4:19 amYeah, I freak out about that stuff, too, so hopefully this one doesn't dwell too much on that… :/

May 16, 2012 at 5:33 amThis looks both creepy and intriguing! But I laughed at the part where the guy seems excited about rescuing his crush. Most of the guys I know seem disgusted by the suggestion that a girl would need rescuing. (I hope they would still do it, though!)

May 17, 2012 at 4:20 amHmm, I think some guys want to be the savior, and other guys don't really care about it. But I think it also depends on the girl. If she's the kind of girl who needs to be saved on a regular basis, or acts like she needs to be saved simply for attention, that would totally be a turn off for anyone, I would think! ;)
