TGIF (3): Literary Vacations

TGIF is a weekly meme by Ginger at GReads, where bloggers can recap their week and answer a blogging/bookish question.

Here’s this week’s question:

Literary Vacations: If you could take a trip this summer to any place within a fictional book, where would you go? Tell us about your summer dream vacation!

Well, I’m going to go with what probably a lot of people will say: I want to go to Hogwarts! Luckily the fabulous people at Universal Orlando have made it possible for Harry Potter nerds like me to get our fix!  I haven’t been able to go yet, and I’m really sad about that.  But I do know that I’ll go someday, and I’ll be getting some Butterbeer and buying lots of Ravenclaw merchandise!  I’ll probably ride all the rides, too, even though I’m not a big roller coaster fan.  I mean, it’s The Wizarding World of Harry Potter!  How could I NOT do everything possible???  I’m thinking I’ll need to make sure my trip is for like a week so that I won’t miss anything!

But I am lucky enough to be going on a cruise this summer – in the Mediterranean!  I’ll be going to Spain, France, and Italy, and while I’ve been before I’m so excited to be able to go again!  And it’ll be the first time for my husband and our son!  (Don’t worry, I’ll be sure to take lots of pictures!)

Where do you want to go?  Let me know, or leave a link to your TGIF in the comments and I’ll stop by your blog!  Happy Friday!

I'm so jealous of your Mediterranean cruise! I've always wanted to go to Spain and Italy. Pictures are definitely required!

I picked Hogwarts too, I can't even think of another place in books that even comes close to Hogwarts.

I know – I'm sure there are other places in books I'd like to visit, but nothing compares to Hogwarts!

I picked Hogwarts, too, then added something else. I think it's just one of those obvious picks and for a reason! So magical. <3

Wow, Mediterranean cruise! :O My friends do something similiar every summer. They spend one week in Spain, one in Italy, and one.. I'm not sure where that one was. But anyway, they always talk about how awesome those three and a half weeks are! So I hope you'll have fun!

Hogwarts seems like a major favorite!

Ooh, that trip that your friends do sounds really cool! That would be wonderful to do it every summer!

That cruise sounds amazing! I am so excited for you!! I am most jealous of Italy, I have always wanted to go there!

I really think we are going to try and get to the Harry Potter theme park in the next year or two!

      May 6, 2012 at 6:50 pm

Yeah, I really need to go to that theme park soon! I'm hoping I'll get to go in the next couple of years, too. My son is pretty young now, but I'm thinking when he's 4 or 5 he'll really enjoy it, so that way we can all have fun!

So lucky! I've always wanted to try cruising and I want it to be in Europe. I just feel that countries there are so diverse.

Yeah, the hubs is in Slytherin, too, so it'd be a house divided over here! ;)

Oooh, December would be a good time to go! I've actually heard that November is a good time, like right before Thanksgiving I think… It's less crowded than like any other time. One of these days I'll get to go!

    May 9, 2012 at 12:01 am

Hogwarts would be amazing! Who wouldn't want to go there? I don't know when we would all be able to afford it, but one day it would be fun to get a huge group together to go to Universal and see it all!

    1. Andrea @ The Overstuffed Bookcase

      May 9, 2012 at 2:44 am

That would be awesome! Didn't Ame want to do that at one point? And then no one could go? We should start saving NOW and plan on going in like 2014! ;)
