Top Ten Tuesday (2): Playing Hooky

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. Each week they have a new topic for bloggers to make a Top Ten list out of. I’m a huge fan of lists, so this meme is right up my alley!

This week’s Top Ten list is Spring Fever:  Top Ten Books I’d Play Hooky With, but I couldn’t really think of the books I’d play hooky with without them basically being like my Top Ten Favorite Books.  So I decided to modify the list a bit.

So here they are, in no particular order, My Top Ten Fictional Characters I’d Play Hooky With:

Fred & George Weasley (Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling)  These guys were some of my favorite characters in the Harry Potter books.  They were always up to something, and they were so funny.  I’d love to hang out with them!

Sirius Black (Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling)  Continuing with the Harry Potter theme, I’d have to say that I’d love to play hooky with Sirius.  He was my absolute favorite character in the series, and he was definitely the guy who would sneak out of class on a regular basis, just for the fun of it.  He’d know how to get you out of trouble with Filch, too.

Hale (Heist Society series by Ally Carter)  I recently read Heist Society (my review here) and Hale has become my new book boyfriend.  He would concoct some type of con to get you out of class, and then he’d take you on a whirlwind adventure that would most likely involve stealing art.  And you’d never get caught!  Not that I enjoy or condone stealing, but this guy is a smooth bad boy that’s not really quite a bad boy.

Iko (Cinder by Marissa Meyer)  Iko is a funny android that helps Cinder, but is really a great friend.  She’s supposedly got a faulty personality chip (according to the stuck-ups in the story) but I think she’s hilarious and would be fun to hang around with.  (My review of Cinder here.)

Emerson & Michael (Hourglass by Myra McEntire)  Want to go back in time?  Look no further!  Emerson and Michael would sneak you out of class, take you back in time to fix some horrible mistake, and bring you back right to the time you disappeared, so that you actually never would have missed the class.  So I guess you’d still have to sit through that boring lecture, but you could at least spend the time reminiscing about your recent adventure!

Crowley & Aziraphale (Good Omens by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett) Crowley is a demon, and Aziraphale is an angel, but they live on Earth and would like to keep it that way, regardless of the impending apocalypse.  These characters are hilarious, and I’d love to spend some time with both of them, as long as it wasn’t on the actual day of the apocalypse.
Ford Prefect (Hitchhiker’s Guide series by Douglas Adams)  In the books, Ford is like a middle-aged man, so I’d prefer the movie version (played by Mos Def).  But Ford is an alien who’s been trapped on Earth for a long time, so he’d understand my naive human ways, but he’s been all over the universe, so he’d be able to be my galactic guide.

And these last 3 are not characters from books (or at least not originally), but they are fictional characters that I’d love to hang out with:

Veronica Mars (from the TV show of the same name)  Veronica is smart, snarky, and can totally get you out of a jam.  I’d love to help solve crimes with her, and hang out with all her friends (especially Logan!).

Shawn Spencer (from the TV show Psych)  Shawn is hilarious.  And even though I know he’s not actually psychic, I’d totally keep his secret as we solved police cases together.  And I’d also love to hang out with Gus.

The Doctor (from the TV show Doctor Who)  I’d like to hang out with the tenth Doctor (played by David Tennant).  I’d totally want to ride around in the TARDIS and go to all those crazy planets and alternate dimensions!  As long as the Doctor was always there to save the day, of course.

What books (or fictional characters) would you play hooky with?  Let me know, or leave a link to your TTT in the comments, and I’ll stop by your blog!

I like the way you did your list and I completely, 100% agree with Fred and George Weasley. They would be #1 on my list for sure. Shawn and Gus from Psych is a good choice too, you would never be bored that's for sure!

I LOVE Shawn and Gus too! I'm also in Lust with Agent Seely Booth on the TV Show Bones. I've only read the first 2 books in the Harry Potter series but I agree with you on Fred and George.

I love how you modified this and you had such great picks! Every one is fun. You'd be bound to get into a crazy adventure. Oh man… the twins and Veronica Mars… I don't think they'd get along, but I'm having fun imagining the shenanigans.
