The Time Will Come (3)

The Time Will Come is a weekly meme hosted by Jodie at Books for Company, where we can highlight the books on our shelves that we’ve been meaning to get to for some time, but have been put on the back burner for one reason or another.

The book that I chose for this week is:

City of Bones (The Mortal Instruments #1)

Cassandra Clare
Published 2007 by Margaret K. McElderry Books, an imprint of Simon & Schuster Children’s Publishing Division

When fifteen-year-old Clary Fray heads out to the Pandemonium Club in New York City, she hardly expects to witness a murder — much less a murder committed by three teenagers covered with strange tattoos and brandishing bizarre weapons. Then the body disappears into thin air. It’s hard to call the police when the murderers are invisible to everyone else and when there is nothing — not even a smear of blood — to show that a boy has died. Or was he a boy?

This is Clary’s first meeting with the Shadowhunters, warriors dedicated to ridding the earth of demons. It’s also her first encounter with Jace, a Shadowhunter who looks a little like an angel and acts a lot like a jerk. Within twenty-four hours Clary is pulled into Jace’s world with a vengeance, when her mother disappears and Clary herself is attacked by a demon. But why would demons be interested in ordinary mundanes like Clary and her mother? And how did Clary suddenly get the Sight? The Shadowhunters would like to know. . . .

Exotic and gritty, exhilarating and utterly gripping, Cassandra Clare’s ferociously entertaining fantasy takes readers on a wild ride that they will never want to end.  (From Goodreads)

I’ve only had this book on my shelf for about a year – I bought it at one of the closing sales at Borders.  I was planning on reading it this year, because I thought the movie was going to be coming out this year, but I understand there have been some problems with the movie, so I have some time before I need to read it.  I feel like a horrible YA reader, because I have yet to read anything by Cassandra Clare!  But, in my defense, I’ve really only become a lover of YA in the past couple of years.  And I hope to get to this one really soon!

What books have been pushed back for you?  Let me know, or leave a link to your post if you’re participating in this meme and I’ll be sure to stop by your blog!

You and me both, sister. I feel like a bad YA fan for not reading anything by Clare – and now she has another trilogy to start in 2015-ish! I spy another read along on the horizon! ; )

I have to get in on this meme! Also, I loved City of Bones. I loved the first three books, didn't love the fourth, but still have the fifth on pre-order. :)

Hi, Andrea! You know, I've only read one book by Cassandra Clare – Clockwork Angel (I think that's the title anyway, the first in that series…) and I just didn't love it. So, I've pushed City of Bones back again and again. I really should give it a go. Hope you start it..and love it!

Thanks for stopping by the blog, by the way :)

LOL I haven't read her either. Though my plan is to read Mortal Instruments next month in time for the 5th book to come out. =)

I've only read the first two and half of the third. I can't remember why I never finished it though o_O I remember liking it a lot, but I've read a lot of other great books since then so it isn't….memorable? I guess thats the word. I personally like the Infernal Devices better. However, I do plan on re-reading this series eventually so that I can read the 4th book. Hope you enjoy once you read it!

    All the best ♥

Great pick! I have what's been released of this series sitting on my bookcase waiting to be read. About 90% of my books fit in with this meme :(

I've never even heard of Cassandra Claire!

I think meme's like this would just make me feel even more guilty for having not read these books yet!
