3 Types of Reading Slumps (VIDEO)

3 Types of Reading Slumps picture

Hi everyone!

Today I wanted to talk about that thing that readers dread the most, more than mismatched covers and instalove: the reading slump.

I’m currently in the middle of a reading slump and it surprised me to realize that I was still enjoying the book that I’ve been reading. And then I remembered some tweets that I had seen by fellow book bloggers where they talked about their reading slumps, and I remember thinking, “Oh, that’s not what I usually think of when I hear ‘reading slump,’ but I totally see their point.”

So it got me thinking about different types of reading slumps, and I came up with 3 distinct types. And then I decided to make a video about it. Oh, you didn’t know? I’m a booktuber now. ;) I mean, I’m still a book blogger, of course, but I’m really enjoying making videos all about books and blogging.

So you should check out my video below about reading slumps, and then maybe check out my other videos, too. If you’re into that sort of thing.

What type of reading slump do you suffer from the most? And are there any types of reading slumps I’ve forgotten? Let me know!

    Great vlog, Andrea!
I don’t really get in reading slumps (I know, feel free to hate me), but I do get in reading ruts… but mine is usually when I’m reading several books at once and not making a lot of progress because of life getting in the way. This usually ends when one of the books really grabs me and I blow off sleep or tv or computer time to just sit and read. Part of the reason that I’m never in a true reading slump is audiobooks- because my commute to and from work is pretty long, and it’s the only true time I really have to myself. I briefly stuttered earlier this month when I discovered the awesomeness of podcasts, but made the decision that my daily commute would be audiobooks, and podcasts would have to wait for other times. But before I started blogging and before I had a huge TBR pile (piles upon piles), there were times where I just wasn’t actively reading (I would just do half-hearted re-reads of my favorites), or I just couldn’t find a single thing to spark my interest.
